This is a love triangle between Delaney, Tuck and Cory. Three Special Forces soldiers that are used to making snap decisions, and needing to be clear when speaking & precise in their thinking and all three failed. I couldn’t get past page 67!

I hate it when an author can’t remember her own plot points. But, what makes it worse is when those plot points are major points and the 180 happens in the first 60 pages.

Here’s an example. (Last chance to avoid major spoilers!)

On pages 9-11, Delaney is explained like this.

“She would cut him (Tuck) off like she’d done so [sic] many others who’d tried getting too close”

“Walking away from a physical relationship was a hell of a lot easier than walking away from an emotionally involved one.”

“Tuck would think their liaison meant something. Which it didn’t.”

“Tonight she would tell Tuck not to expect anything. She wasn’t into commitment or the long-term [sic] relationship.”

Then on page 44…

“But sometimes she dreamed of hearing him (Tuck) say those three words she’d longed to hear. I love you.”

Then, on pages 60

“But Tuck…there was nothing brotherly about the way she felt about him.”

“She’d fallen for him the first time he’d [sic] walked her to her car.” (Which, BTW, was before pages 9-11!)

Sheesh! Get it straight!

Here’s one for you that is even closer in proximity. In fact, it happens during one relatively short mission!

Page 61…

“But that point had long since passed when Cory proposed. Now they were faced with dangerous missions. If she broke the news to Cory that she had been seeing Tuck for the past month and a half, how would he take it? Would it put a dent in the camaraderie between Tuck and Cory? They couldn’t afford that…”

Page 67…

“Delaney stomped away from Tuck & Cory, steaming as she went. Why the hell hadn’t Tuck told Cory about them? They’d had over a week in which he could’ve brought up the subject at any time.”

Seriously?!?! Which is it? Cory can't know...or Cory needs to know? Or was it just that She didn't want to tell him, she wanted someone else to tell him and deal with it?

And Cory! Let’s talk about him. I would not want that flighty, idiotic, lunatic covering my back…he might see a butterfly and decide he loves it and must pursue it! He was flightier than my 3 year old granddaughter!

He hasn’t been on a date with Delaney, but is convinced they love each other and are soul mates, buys a ring & proposes in the middle of a bar! (very romantic...NOT!) With all the SEALS there! (Of course, that leads into the flip-flop of needing to be tough because she’s a woman pilot and her supposed ‘soul-mate’ undermining her image, all the while knowing she struggles with her image!) And, he won’t listen to anyone that he’s jumping the gun, or too impulsive, or she doesn’t love him, or he’s just being stupid. THEN, he takes the ring on a top secret mission! NFW!

I got whiplash from all the flipping and flopping of the story line. These are just some examples…not all of them. And I quit at page 67. I simply can’t go on and finish…it’s all just too stupid…and my neck hurts.

SEAL Honor A Military Romance Take No Prisoners Book 1 edition by Elle James Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Reed Tucker and his SEAL team are stationed in Afghanistan and work with helicopter pilot Delaney O'Connell. Tucker and Delaney work well together and get to know each other quite well. Tuck doesn't have relationships because of his career and parents (who have been married several times). After Delaney lost her fiance she sworn to never again get involved with anyone in the military. Since neither wanted a relationship, a one-night-stand worked for both of them. Until they started to have feelings for each other.

Things got complicated when Tucker's best friend, Reaper, decided Delaney was perfect for him and asked her to marry him. She said no but he kept asking until she finally agreed.

This was a good story with exciting missions the SEAL's went on. There was a lot of conflicting emotions between the three main characters that kept me wishing Tucker and Delaney would just speak up. Reaper didn't know that Tucker and Delaney had been together because didn't know how to tell him.

This story starts with Tucker going into the church to attend Reaper and Delaney's wedding so I was frustrated while reading it feeling like I knew the ending at the beginning. So that I don't give anything away I'll just say there were lots of twists to this story.
I like a good book NOT a few chapters. A book is a story with a start, a middle, and an end! Go back to school and relearn it! This book is a few chapters and you stop the book when the main character BEGINS to put the story on his path. Then you close it just so you can pay more money to get the continuation. It tells me you are in the writing business FOR NOTHING BUT THE MONEY! You are not a story teller! And consequently NOT a writer! You may have great stories but I will never know because I will not be forced to buy the next book to see what happens when it should have been in this book. Try reading a book by Susan Stoker and learn what writing is REALLY ABOUT! YOU ARE JUST A HACK!!!!!
So far this has been a fine read. I would recommend this for either right- before- bed, or on the beach, a quiet afternoon, etc. There are quite a few dynamic features to the story line. A few twists and tunes, and the characters are pretty well developed. There are a few parts that could be edited slightly better, but I do know most authors on here prefer for their readers to help them out in this aspect.
It was not hard reading by any means, but it was also not an elementary level book. Be prepared for some love scenes. But honestly, sometimes they do add to the storyline, right?
I hope to either purchase more in this series (if there is one) or get the author motivated to write more! Not that this was left with just a cliffhanger or anything, I have just loved how the storyline was developed, and would love to know where this could head into the future. Knowing how the characters have developed, interacted, and have grown leaves me with a lot of hope for more. I always love series/ books where there is a spin- off into a similar setting, but with acquaintances that the characters had, or will have.
Overall, this is a great value and I would highly recommend it. It is a great value for the price, and it simply cannot be beat! I will be purchasing more from this author in the future, and look forward to new releases.

Had been on a kick of reading other current and ex military books, so decided to give this one a try. Maybe it was because I just finished a series that was so strong, but this book just did not draw me in. The characters seemed shallow and it was hard to care about the story that was weaving around them. This is not a series I will continue to follow!
